Exotic basil – Ocimum basilicum

Native to Asia. Basil is very well known in India and is now cultivated in France, Réunion and Cyprus. Its name comes from the Greek ‘basilikon’, meaning ‘royal’. Tropical basil essential oil is extracted from the flowers and leaves. It is a general stimulant and a powerful antispasmodic; it acts on the medulla oblongata, giving it neuroregulatory properties, which is why it is so effective against spasmophilia, travel sickness and fever. As a decongestant, tropical basil oil is also antiviral, anti-infectious, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It helps to combat staphylococcus, polyarthritis, viral infections, circulatory disorders and respiratory conditions
